School Meals

Chartwell Menu, Spring/Summer term 2018

School DInners

Healthy cooked meals are provided by Chartwells. The food is prepared and cooked on site in the school kitchen by our school cook, Mrs Margaret Wilkins.

Lunch is served at 12.00pm for our Foundation Phase pupils and 12.20pm for our KS2 pupils. The lunchtime staff also comprise of our Senior Midday Supervisor, Mrs Wallbank and our Midday Supervisors: Mrs Knight, Mrs Sterry and Mrs McDonnell.  Our Learning Support Staff also join our Midday Supervisors on the playground during the Lunch break.

New menus are sent out to all parents when they are changed and the weekly menu is always available on the weekly school newsletter.

School Dinners for all our children, Foundation Phase and Key Stage 2 cost £2.10.

Collection of Dinner Money is now all done through ParentPay.  Parents can either use a barcode, which they can add money to their account at any PayPoint tereminal or parents have an opportunity to register to add money with a debit card, on line.

Throughout the year there are themed dinners e.g. Chinese theme during the Chinese New Year and at Christmas the children all sit together and are served by the school staff, who on this occasion, serve the children their dinners at their table.

Facilities are provided for children to eat their own packed lunch. Food should be brought in a lunchbox and any drink in a secure, sealed container. Tin cans, glass bottles, fizzy and hot drinks are not allowed for reasons of safety. Please ensure that you provide the necessary cutlery, if your child needs it to eat their dinner.

Healthy Eating is well promoted in school both at playtimes and lunchtimes. Parents are asked to support our focus on no sweets, crisps, chocolate etc.   At every lunchtime, pupils are invited to buy fruit from our fruit tuck shop, for 25p or, bring their own fruit in from home.

Children are encouraged to bring water to school to drink throughout the day and there are water fountains in both the Foundation Phase and Key Stage 2 to refill their bottles.

Free School Meals

Parents in receipt of Income Support are entitled to free meals for all children attending the school. It is important that all entitled families are registered in order for the school to be ‘judged’ and funded correctly. This information is held confidentially in the school and no pupil will be made aware of their entitlement, or that of others.

Application forms are available at www.newport.gov.uk and then follow the school meal link.

Free School Milk

All Foundation Phase pupils are entitled to free school milk.
