"Together we can achieve"

School Arrangements Letter

Thursday 19th March 2020
Annwyl Rheni ac Helpwr,
As you will be aware, the Welsh Government announced yesterday that all schools in Wales will close by Friday 20th March, bringing the Easter Holiday forward by two weeks, due to the coronavirus outbreak.
In discussion with Cllr Kellaway, our Chair of Governors, we would like to inform parents that Llanmartin Primary School will close on Friday 20th March at the end of the school day and remain closed until further notice.
We do need to make it clear to parents and carers that although we are now saying that children will be off for four weeks, there is no guarantee that our school will be able to open after this time and we will endeavour to keep parents as informed as we can. It is really important that our contact details are up to date for you – if you have changed your mobile number or email recently, please contact the school today to update our records please.
During the time that the school is shut, all our classteachers will be communicating with parents through the class SeeSaw app and by email from our Teacher2parents app. We will be creating electronic work packs for children to work through during this time. More information will follow about this.
These packs will offer suggestions of learning that can take place at home. We urge you to set up a routine of learning at home during this time so that learning can continue and will do everything we can to support you with providing activities to complete in the home environment.
This is a very difficult time for us all and I’m sure that there are many concerns about what will happen in the next few months. If any parent would like to contact the school, please use Llanmartin.primary@newport.gov.uk and we will answer your message as soon as possible.
The situation is fast moving. You will have heard that schools may have a changing role with regard to provision for key workers. At present, I have no additional information regarding this. As soon as I am aware of any further information I will pass it on to you.
Finally, during this time, thank you all for your support and cooperation. Thank you to the parents who have taken the time to write to us in support of our actions. Please keep your families safe and well.
Best wishes,
Victoria Curtis
